Diese Funktion ist nur im Web verfügbar.

What is this?

With Verify license code anyone can publicly check whether a license code stored in Chorilo is valid. Handy for:

  • Publishers wanting to check whether a choir really has a valid license
  • Concert organizers who want to verify performance rights
  • GEMA reviewers and other collecting societies
  • Associations and selection committees wanting to inspect proof

Verification is possible without login — you do not need a Chorilo account.

How to verify a license

  1. Go to the Chorilo site and scroll to the footer.
  2. Click Verify license in the footer menu.
  3. Enter the license code (from the piece or the license issuer).
  4. Click Verify.
  5. You see the status immediately and the data needed for the check.

What the verification shows

  • Status:
    • Valid — the license is active and within the validity period
    • Expired — the license was once valid but is no longer
    • Invalid — the code does not exist or was revoked
  • Licensor (publisher or platform)
  • Piece title and composer — so you are sure it is the right license
  • Valid from and to — period of validity
  • Type of license (performance, duplication, arrangement)

Not shown: contracts, prices, internal notes, personal data of members. Only the basic data needed for verification is visible.

Permission

For verification no permission and no login is required. The feature is intentionally public so external reviewers like publishers or GEMA can check easily at any time.

When verification is worth it

  • Before a concert: are all protected pieces really licensed?
  • For publisher inquiries: just send along the license code for verification.
  • For audits by collecting societies: they can check the codes themselves.
  • When swapping between choirs: a piece changes ensemble — does the license status fit?

Tips

  • Print the license code large and well legible on programs if publishers want to verify.
  • Renew expired licenses in time — verification shows the expiry, that looks unprofessional.
  • For many concerts you can print the verification URL with the code as a QR code on the program — publishers verify with a scan.
  • Keep the license code outside Chorilo too safely — then it is at hand even if you do not have access to the system.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Chorilo account to verify a license?
No. Verification is publicly accessible. Anyone with the license code can check validity — ideal for publishers, GEMA reviewers or concert organizers wanting to verify proof.
Which data does the verification show?
Status (valid, expired, invalid), licensor, piece title, composer and validity period. Sensitive data like contracts or prices is not shown — only what is needed for the check.
What if the code is invalid?
When the check shows "invalid", there is either a typo in the code, the license was deleted or has expired. When in doubt ask the license holder or the ensemble.
